Public beta release
|
Our products are now available as a public beta release.
What do we mean by beta?
We have carefully designed, built and tested our products over the
last six months, and our owners are already running their own critical
servers on our infrastructure.
Nevertheless, customers who buy our products during our public beta
period will be amongst our early paying users, so may encounter bugs
which we and our testers have not yet found. We would appreciate your
help in swiftly reporting these to be fixed.
There are also planned features which we do not yet provide in the
public beta release. We intend to complete and release these to our
customers incrementally through the period of the public beta.
Features for completion during public beta
-
Full launch capacity:
We will continue to build out our infrastructure in parallel with
our public beta. We may need to temporarily restrict new customers
or growth of existing customers if demand temporarily exceeds our
build out. If you plan to buy a significant number of virtual
servers (10s-100s or more) then we recommend that you contact us to
plan your capacity needs.
-
Wider operating system choice and preinstalled images:
We are initially requiring that users install their own operating
system either using a range of open source install CDs which we
provide, or by uploading their own. We intend to add additional
operating system choices and preinstalled images.
-
Improved payment integration:
We are initially using Google Checkout to take payments for our
public beta service. This can impose a delay between when your
payment is entered and shipped. We intend to move to taking card
payments directly.
-
Drive snapshots:
We intend to offer snapshots of data on your drives for rapid
disaster recovery.
-
Network VLANs:
We intend to offer private VLANs between a user's virtual servers.
-
API:
We intend to offer a web services API to create and control your
drives and virtual servers on our infrastructure.
-
SLA:
We intend to offer a competitve SLA for our products.
-
Minimal scheduled maintenance:
We may need a small number of extra periods of scheduled maintenance
during the public beta to build out our infrastructure. We will give
you 24 hours advance warning of these periods and will make
reasonable efforts to ensure that they are brief and outside peak
times.
