Should I choose hourly, monthly or yearly hosting?
- Hourly hosting gives additional flexibility to add short-term capacity to your servers, as and when you need. Hourly hosting is billed from your pre-paid balance.
- Monthly hosting is the cheapest way to host for continuous use, and is ideal for ongoing hosting. Monthly hosting is billed in advance.
- Yearly hosting is simply monthly hosting with a special offer - pay yearly and receive 12 months for the price of 10 (except Microsoft licenses).
We usually recommend monthly or yearly hosting for continuous services, with hourly pricing as required for traffic spikes. You can switch instantly to or from hourly hosting at any time, and can use hourly hosting for excess over your monthly or yearly subscription.
How is hourly hosting billed?
Hourly use is billed as you use it, from your pre-paid balance. Minimum balance requirements apply (see below).
Hourly hosting is charged in whole hours at double the monthly rate of subscriptions. Hours are per-account and measured by the clock - this means that an hour bought at 1pm expires at 2pm even if you stop the server earlier, but also that if you stop the server at 1:30pm and start a new, replacement server at 1:40pm then it is still covered until 2pm.
How is monthly/yearly hosting billed?
Monthly/yearly use is charged in advance. You can pay by Visa, Mastercard or other methods (see below).
Do you have minimum pre-paid balance requirements?
Yes, for hourly hosting. If you are paying by the hour for plans costing more than above £0.20/hour or $0.30/hour, you must have enough balance to cover 14 days ahead, otherwise you will not be able to add new disk space or start a server.
Do you have minimum charges?
Yes: monthly hosting has minimum rates of £0.001/hour or $0.001/hour when using disk alone, and £0.040/hour or $0.060/hour when using virtual servers. Hourly hosting has double these minimum rates.
Which payment methods do you accept?
We accept payment by Visa or MasterCard, plus the following methods:
- If your servers are in the UK: We also accept American Express and Google Checkout payments. For sums of £300 or more, we accept bank transfers to our UK bank account.
- If your servers are in the US or Canada: For sums of $400 or more, we accept bank transfers to our US bank account.
How do you guarantee CPU performance?
Ratings are relative to a single 2.0 GHz core of an AMD 'Magny-Cours' Opteron 6128 processor, which scores 2.0 core-GHz. Processor specs represent the typical performance of a virtual server. Performance is guaranteed to be at least half these levels, and will typically meet or exceed them as we allocate spare capacity where it is most needed.
