I have been testing in the last week the ElasticHosts Virtual Hosting Services (Linux System pre-installed systems: Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS), with the initial/base package. Technically speaking: The latency is low (the lowest the best) and stable, does not have significant increases when I increased the machine’s usage and data transfer rates. Accessing files (read/write) is extremely fast. CPU and Memory provided looks pretty well and stable too. I can say that ElasticHosts is very easy and simple to use, is very “elastic” in the solutions that provides, and is capable of supporting enterprise sized solutions.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you for your efforts in supporting our migration to your services. On a number of key technical and support-related points you beat Amazon EC2 hands down. Amazon’s EC2 doesn’t support Windows 2008 R2 at this time. Also, EC2′s smallest 64-bit image is too small to run a Windows server, while the next size up is far too big for generic application server or Windows infrastructure tasks. To have implemented and released into production the services that we have, in less than a month – and not forgetting that this included Christmas and the New Year, is a testament to not only the technology, but the support that has made this a viable business solution. We look forward to building on this base over the coming years.

When we were looking to move web hosting in April 2009, our primary concern was that we chose a UK provider that was flexible enough for our requirements. We were also looking for a solution flexible enough to rapidly deploy product demos and interactive technology previews. After reading a number of articles on Cloud Computing, the reality in the UK is starkly different to larger markets like the USA: fewer providers, limited data centres and more expense. Having limited our options to three big name providers, we found ElasticHosts and were so impressed with their product offering that we registered for their free trial and had a web server up and running within minutes from their provided images. That web server wasn’t quite right for us, so we deleted it and rebuilt one from scratch inside a further hour. There lies the beauty of ElasticHosts: with their combination of behind-the-scenes technical expertise and their excellent management interface, building, deploying, altering & scaling any type of hosted server is a doddle. If you can’t manage it yourself, there are pre-built server images and an excellent interface into other server image providers. Support is always on hand and quick to resolve problems. I recommend ElasticHosts to any client with a requirement and look forward to further product development in the future.
