A very warm welcome to Paul Fisher, our new Operations Engineer!
Paul is now our lead for technical customer support — so he’ll always be on hand to slay bugs and fix problems with installation, upgrading or day-to-day server administration.
He’s also a Unix system administrator, and as such, he’ll be managing the ElasticStack clusters that we run for ourselves and our licensees.
Paul has degrees in both psychology and computer science — surely making him ideally qualified for this role. Welcome Paul!
Paul spent several years living and working in Oklahoma, USA. While there he studied at Rogers State University in Claremore, Oklahoma. He has a Bachelor of Science with majors in Psychology and Sociology and minors in English, as well as Associate degrees in Liberal Arts and Computer Science.
He has worked as a technical support engineer for several companies, including Select Appointments in the UK. For the past 10 years, he was a system administrator at High Flight Arts and Letters in Oklahoma, where he worked on projects including digital data for the Lord of the Rings films with Weta Digital in New Zealand.
He also worked with science fiction author Mercedes Lackey, and is still involved with the social media aspect of communicating with Lackey’s fans, popping up as her assistant from time to time on her Facebook page. Paul says he has a voracious reading habit to feed, and the free books help defray the cost!
Paul is a keen actor, and has made numerous appearances on television and radio. On stage, he has appeared in several amateur productions, from the one-man piece On the Wings of a Butterfly by Craig Pospisil to a stint as Benedick in a full production of Much Ado About Nothing.
